Gung Jee Fook Fu Kuen

Share

Gung Jee Fook Fu Kuen  工字伏虎拳 is one of the core forms of the Hung Gar kung fu style. Its name can be translated as ‘Character Gung Subdue Tiger Fist’. The basic movements of the form trace their lineage to the Southern Shaolin Temple, but its ‘modern’ version was devised in the city of Fatshan towards the end of the 18th century. It combines the core attributes of the ‘Hung Fist’: low stances, powerful ‘bridge’ arm techniques, the imitated movements of the Tiger… The form is known as ‘Gung Jee’ because, if seen from above, the practitioner’s movements would follow the outline of the Chinese character ‘Gung’. It has been handed down from the great patriarchs of the Hung Gar style, most famously the legendary Grandmaster Wong Fei-hung and his student Lam Sai-wing. Trained properly, Gung Jee Fook Fu Kuen benefits the practitioner’s health and provides an arsenal of ferocious fighting techniques.

A classic course first taught by Mak Sifu via webinars in 2020. The course, including full demos of the form and billingual manuals are now available here.
